ORDINATION TO THE PRIESTHOOD PENTECOST SUNDAY SUNDAY, JUNE 4, 2017 All are invited to the Cathedral of Christ the King in Superior on Sunday, June 4 at 4:00 pm to celebrate the Ordination of Samuel Schneider to the Priesthood. This Mass fulfills the obligation for that Sunday. All diocesan clergy are invited to vest and be seated in the sanctuary as con-celebrating Priests or non assisting Deacons. Light refreshments will be served in Kress Hall following the liturgy. Please show support for priestly vocations by attending this joyful occasion.
We were greeted Easter Morning by Jesus’s open tomb as made by SALN religious education students. A meaningful visual of the Easter miracle.
A blessed Holy Week to everyone as we observe the Passion of Christ.

–Self Dedication to Jesus Christ by St. Ignatius of Loyola:
“Take, Lord, and receive all my liberty,
my memory, my understanding,
and my entire will,
All I have and call my own.
You have given all to me.
To you, Lord, I return it.
Everything is yours; do with it what you will.
Give me only your love and your grace,
that is enough for me.”
This Prayer of St. Ignatius of Loyola was originally crafted to be used at the conclusion of his Spiritual Exercises. The Spiritual Exercises were the 40 days of directed retreat whereby a Christian soul would be led to a greater freedom in the spiritual life and a more mature acceptance of the faith. At the end of the retreat this prayer was used as a spiritual re-dedication of ones to Christ.
-Prayer of St. Thomas Aquinas Before Communion
“Almighty and ever-living God,
I approach the sacrament
of Your only-begotten Son
Our Lord Jesus Christ,
I come sick to the doctor of life,
unclean to the fountain of mercy,
blind to the radiance of eternal light,
and poor and needy to the Lord
of heaven and earth.
Lord, in your great generosity,
heal my sickness,
wash away my defilement,
enlighten my blindness, enrich my poverty,
and clothe my nakedness.
May I receive the bread of angels,
the King of kings and Lord of lords,
with humble reverence,
with the purity and faith,
the repentance and love,
and the determined purpose
that will help to bring me to salvation.
May I receive the sacrament
of the Lord’s Body and Blood,
and its reality and power.
may I receive the Body
of Your only-begotten Son,
our Lord Jesus Christ,
born from the womb of the Virgin Mary,
and so be received into His mystical body
and numbered among His members.
as on my earthly pilgrimage
I now receive Your beloved Son
under the veil of a sacrament,
may I one day see him face to face in glory,
who lives and reigns with You for ever.
In this prayer St. Thomas Aquinas poetically depicts the effects of reception of Holy Communion. He expresses the graces that we receive as being the cure for our spiritual impurity, blindness, and sickness. It expresses what we believe by faith, that when we receive holy communion, the sacrament unites us to the reality. So we receive in truth, the body and blood of Christ as he was born of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
